How To Stay In Church.
As a pastor's kid, I am able to see so many wonderful things in the ministry. I see the lives transformed By God and people excited for church. I see families that were broken be strengthened by the preaching. There are so many blessings I get to witness.
But on the flip side, I sadly also see people that get bitter at God. I look at those who have chosen to reject the things of God and leave church.
So from seeing all this, I think it is safe to say I know why people leave church and why others stay. And for today's post, I'm providing you with 4 pieces of advice of how to stay in church. So below are 4 things you need to avoid if you want to stay in church.
A. Don't Get offended
“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” — Psalm 119:165
The first way to leave church is to find someone's words, actions, or attitudes offensive and create an attitude of bitterness. Perhaps this is the biggest reason people leave church. We must understand that church is filled with people and people will sometimes be rude, say hurtful things, and do us wrong. But we should never get offended to the point that we leave the place that can help us the best. Church.
B. Keep Fellowshipping
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” — Hebrews 10:24-25
It was Lee Roberson that said fellowship is the heartbeat of the church. We need like-minded people that we can fellowship with. I have noticed that people soon to quit church will begin to stop fellowshipping. They will slowly stop talking with others at church and when the preacher says amen, they are immediately out the door. One thing we must always do is be fellowshipping with others. Because while people can offend us, they can also greatly help and encourage us.
C. Don't Make Excuses Not To Come To Church.
Those that will leave church will first find ways to justify them skipping out on services. Beware that we don't start making excuses on coming to church.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is…” — Hebrews 10:25
D. Have A Place Of Service
It is imperative we have some place in church that we can serve. The Bible says we are the body of Christ. The sad part is that when someone has no place of involvement, they will feel empty. God want us to serve in our local church in some way.
