Ways The Devil Gets Bad Music In The Christian Home pt.1

Do you know what Lucifer’s job in Heaven was? Some say he was in charge of the music. But you know the story. Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven because of his pride and arrogance. We know this man as the devil. Today the devil tries to fight against anything that is righteousness. This includes the Christian home. One way he ruins homes is through music. Remember, he is the prince and power of the air.

 Music is powerful and effects our hearts and minds.  Music will influence you!

 So today I’m talking about 2 ways the devil tries to bring bad music into the Christian home.

1. Christmas Music

The Christmas season is a very special time of the year. It is a time where we can celebrate the wonderful birth of Christ. But I'm sure you have seen that the devil tries his best to distract us into celebrating Santa, Christmas trees, and an entirely different Christmas. One avenue he accomplishes this is through the Christmas music.

Consider this: A Godly Christian family does not listen to jazz, pop, rock, and the other worldly music. Yet what is the one time this Godly Christian family drops all of their music standards listed above? Christmas-time! When December hits, it surely becomes permissible to listen to pop and jazz artists. Beware of the corrupt philosophy that as soon as the Christmas season rolls around, it is ok to let pop, rock, and jazz music enter into our ears. Don't think that just because the words talk about snow or Santa and are sung by a secular artist, it is ok to listen to. This is simply not true.

Now I’m not saying that all secular Christmas is bad, but I am rather pointing out the devil’s attempt to carnalize our music.  

Perhaps we should ask ourselves whether the music we’re listening to glorifies God. After all, the Christmas season is about celebrating Christ. When reviewing our Christmas music, we must ask ourselves if we would listen to this artist any other time of the year. If not, beware of the devil’s attempt to get the world’s music in your home. Remember, all the devil wants is a small place in your home.

Ephesians 4:27 

“Neither give place to the devil.”

 

 2.Video Game Music

I enjoy playing video games. Video games accounted for being the number one hobby in America in 2023. If you would like to read a post about video games and the Christian, you can find that here. One danger in video games is the music.

There are all sorts of terrible music in sports games and Call of Duty. In these video games are rap and rock music. The Christian must be careful not to let the devil have any place in your home. Now I'm not saying that all music in video games are bad. But I would be keeping guard to not let wrong music enter my ears.

1 Peter 5:8 
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."
