5 Principles Every Teen Needs In Life
1. Get Tired
Does this one seem odd to you? I recently found a research article that was done that said people get tired in 2 ways.
A. Sluggish Tiredness.
This kind of tiredness comes from someone that sits around the house all day and does no physical activity but rather just sits around. This is how most teenagers get tired.
B. Exertion Tiredness.
This kind of tiredness come from extreme physical activity leaving you exhausted. This kind of tiredness will make your muscles sore.
The researcher concluded that those with exertion tiredness have better sleep quality, cognitive ability, and a better immune system. This tiredness actually makes your brain cells in sleep repair broken cells.
The sluggish tiredness does none of these and is usually a sign of a lazy person.
My point is that more teenagers need to get back to physical activity. Too many of us live our lives sluggishly. We need to do more physical activity that strengthens our body and gets us off the couch.
2. Get Studying
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
There may be those who say they have lost, if they ever had it, the faculty for study. They tell us they find no fascination in books. We grant such a deplorable condition possible, but what then? Why not cultivate a taste for study? Why not seek to re-acquire a fondness for those things which study alone assures? Why not try to learn how to appreciate the joys that result from mental effort? The time spent in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding is rewarded by a realization of ideals and a growth in power and determination.
Books readily or easily understood are seldom worth the time consumed in reading them. Cultivate a taste for the Good, the Better, the Best—the most profitable study. “The finest reading is in the Book of Books.” -J.C. Penny
I believe teenagers would be way better off if they started now the practice of studying. This idea of studying would be very helpful because many teenagers don't know what they believe. Perhaps more teens would stay in church if they take the time to study the Bible and its doctrines.
3. Get Focused.
Don't be the teenager who obsesses over crushes and who likes who. I'm sure you've met the type. The teen that constantly is focused on getting a girl, or is always talking about the drama of their latest crush.
A wise teen would realize 2 things.
A. It's not weird to for guys to like girls and girls to like guys. That is completely normal and should be anticipated when one reaches the teen years of life.
B. We must be careful to not focus on that.
There is more to your teen years then puppy love. There are more important things to spend your time and energy on. Always keep your focus on Christ.
4. Get Excited
We need more teenagers getting excited for the things of God. It's easy to get excited about material things that the world offers but our joy and excitement needs to get back on church and God.
5. Get Memorizing.
Memorizing Scripture is way more valuable than what we prioritize it in our life. My teen years would be better spent memorizing the Bible. Evaluate your own life and ask yourself how much do I truly memorize the Bible. Scripture is the sword of our Christian war.
