Takeaways from the Eagles Preseason!
The Eagles' First preseason was really fun to watch. The offense was really booming under the reigns of Tanner Mkee. The defense struggled but did well late into the game. here are my top Takeaways from the game.
1. Tanner Mkee was an absolute baller!!!
He played sensational completing 20/25 for 251 yards and 3 total touchdowns. All of this being in the first 3 quarters of the game. The coolest part might be that he played against the Bengals' first-teamers with second-teamers. Overall, I was very impressed and I am not going to worry too much if Jalen Hurts misses a few games.
2. KP's Debut worked out really well!
Our new OC delivered a great performance in his debut, accumulating 432 total yards of offense. He often went with what worked and rode the hot hand whether it was Shipley running or Tanner Mkee throwing deep. He had a very balanced approach and played to the team strength's which clearly worked out considering they scored 34 points.
3. We do not have a replacement for Darius Slay.
Both Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson struggled early. It was very concerning to see them play at below average rate. Now, to their credit, it was Jamaar Chase and company they had to defend. But it still doesn't excuse their sloppy play the rest of the game. They were not necessarily terrible but their not ready to be starters for the Eagles.
4. The Eagles showed little flashes on both offense and defense.
There were some players on the defense and offense that did pretty good.
-Ty Robinson made a smart play to disrupt the Bengals' drive.
-Patrick Johnson made an electric interception late.
-Will Shipley had a good run early.
-Darius Cooper was Mkee's go-to-guy hauling in 81 yards on 6 receptions and tallied a score.
