The Most Dangerous Word In Christianity

What is the most dangerous word in Christianity? I wanted to look for a word that was something slightly more specific than "sin" or "bad." This word comes from something I found in many people in the Bible who fell away from the faith.

Now, this word being the most dangerous is completely my opinion. However, from what I have studied, I believe this is a serious danger for every Christian.

What is that word?

Compromise.

Now why would I choose compromise?

Well, I read about Adam and Eve and saw they compromised doing right for the allure of sin.

The wicked generation of Noah compromised for a wicked lifestyle.

Lot compromised for the worldly life in the evil city of sodom.

Abraham compromised his honesty before Egypt because of his fear.

Joseph's brothers and Moses compromised because of their tempers.

Solomon, David, Amnon, and Samson compromised because of immorality.

Gehazi, Demas, Judas Iscariot, and the prodigal son compromised because of their love for the things of this world.

All throughout the pages of Scripture, we see people compromising something in their life for unrighteousness.

What is compromise exactly?

Here is what I found online.

• Compromise is giving up some of what is right to allow some of what is wrong.

• Compromise is mixing obedience to God with acceptance of the world.

• Compromise is lowering God’s standards to make room for sin.

• Compromise is settling for partial obedience instead of complete obedience.

• Compromise is choosing a little wrong instead of standing completely for right.

• Compromise is trying to hold on to God while also holding on to the world.

Oh how we must be careful not to let the poison of compromise enter our Christian lives. 

But how does compromise enter our lives? It usually does not begin with a Christian deciding to abandon God completely. It begins with one small exception, one lowered standard, or one little step toward the world.

Compromise starts subtle and small.

Yet it will grow and grow until it becomes the path to annihilating our Christian life.

The Christian must beware because compromise comes in all shapes and sizes.

Compromise can happen in our music, modesty, movies, and methods. It can happen spiritually, physically, emotionally, and mentally. It will come to our home, our church, and our heart. It will attack by means of pressure, culture, and comfort. It can be small but will eventually grow big. And over the entire Bible, a direct message to the Christian can be seen. Beware of compromise!

So today, to whoever is reading this, watch out for compromise. Handle it like the Bible says.

Jeremiah 6:16“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”

Christian, simply put from Jeremiah, take the old path, find the good way, and stay there.

There is nothing wrong with the old time way!
