When Life Gives You Lemons! 😏

The Eagles made a bold statement of their plans for the receiver room, a new offense, and AJ Brown.
The fact that Lemon fell 20 is just insane to start with. Like everyone assumed he was in the 8-14 range. Yet Howie just as he does year after year, finds the falling star. And all we had to do was give up fourth round capital. The last time we gave up a fourth round pick to move up in the draft was for some receiver named Devontae Smith.😌

Here is what you need to know about Makai Lemon and the Eagles:

"Makai Lemon can turn the Eagles' offense back into an electrifying unit. He is physical, he is as tough as they come, and he can make just about any catch. He plays way bigger than his small frame suggests, and he is quite a versatile threat." USC Article

A. Many people compare Lemon to Puka Nacua.
B. He is a Lincoln Riley product.
C. He was voted the best college receiver.

One important thing to note is that Lemon will probably be on the outside opposite Devontae Smith even though he played mostly slot in college. Consider what Howie Roseman said regarding the situation.

"When you watch Makai, you see someone who has the ability to create separation on the outside. Now, you create separation everywhere, but there are more contested catches on the outside sometimes, it feels like. He has insane ability to make contested catches."

I find this pick interesting because it means AJ Brown is for sure gone. But the best part is that we found a good replacement for him in Lemon and we will be getting a first round pick for Brown in the historically good 2027 class.

And while prime AJ Brown was elite, I think shopping him at age 29 when he has been a diva all season is a good idea.

Honestly the most interesting part of this pick is Sean Mannion. I mean the entire Eagles team is being built to match the scheme of this young OC! All the receiver signings and draft picks (Makai Lemon, Wicks, Hollywood Brown) are players that have speed and good separation. A must in Mannion's scheme. The Eagles must have a lot of trust in this OC.

I also find this pick intriguing for Jalen Hurts. Historically, he has liked to throw on the outside. Yet with this new scheme and Lemon, he will be forced to change his style and throw a LOT over the middle. Because throws over the middle is how Sean Mannion's offensive system thrives.

Has anybody also wondered what Lemons jersey will be? 15 and 19 are the 2 best options right now however 11 might be open in June.

Whatever his jersey may be, I know it will be fun to watch Lemon and Smith run the receiving show in the 2026 season!
