3 Ways To Become A Better Employee.
"Any young man who takes as much interest in the business of his employer as he would his own is bound to succeed. One should always work with this in mind. I intend to make myself so indispensable to this business that my firm cannot get along without me." – J.C. Penney
How indispensable are you in your business? As employees, we should strive every day to be an important factor on the job. Any teenager who wants to become a better employee should first desire to be needed at work. Work with the goal of becoming more useful. The more useful you are, the more responsibilities you’ll be given. Responsibility is a sign of trust. Perhaps we should not only strive to be indispensable but also trusted by our employer.
2. Learn from Your Mistakes
Mistakes will happen when you’re working. How we treat our failures determines much about our success.
“Failure is okay as long as it’s not the last chapter of your book.” – Jack Hyles
“Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill
“Failure is just among the many stepping stones to a successful life.” – Abraham Lincoln
Treat mistakes as teachers. Learn from them. Don’t avoid thinking about your mistakes—realize they are essential for growth. It would be a great idea if you went to your employer and ask them what your faults are so you can correct them. Employers respect honesty and a desire to learn. No one is perfect, and true success comes from handling mistakes in the best way possible.
3. Be The Best Version Of Yourself
We all carry a version of ourselves to work. Some bring a lazy or half-hearted version. Some bring a mean or angry version. If we desire to be better employees, we must carry the best version of ourselves.
The best version of yourself shows up on time, cooperates with others, is honest, and gives their all. That version will be liked, trusted with more responsibilities, and chosen for promotion.
The key to unlocking this version is simple: give it your all.
Another key is to begin working for Jesus. When we work to bring Christ glory, we achieve the best version of ourselves.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.
