Guest Post with Jonathan.
Hello everyone. Today I’m excited to be doing a guest post with my friend Jonathan. I met Jonathan on my family's vacation in October. We visited Landmark Baptist Church on a Sunday morning. There, I met Jonathan who talked with me in Sunday School and showed me where to go to Sunday School. And soon after our vacation, we began emailing.
Real quick Jonathan, tell us a little about yourself and your salvation testimony.
Hello as you all now know my name is Jonathan. Well there is not much I can tell you about myself except that I like sports, preaching, and gaming. My salvation testimony is that I was raised in a Christain family and was raised in church. I was saved at the age of five, but did not understand what I was doing. I got my reassurance at the age of 13 at my school. My teacher was talking about how idol time is the devil’s play time and that if we were not saved we were going to hell. That day I realized I was not saved. And on January 10, 2021 I asked Jesus to come into my heart.
Awesome. Now tell me a little more about how you wanting to be a preacher came about.
Well, it was a missions conference and the preachers were talking about how we as young people should surrender our lives to go to the mission field. That week I heard the calling of God to be a missionary. Still don’t know where to ,but still asking God.
Now I do know you were interested in being involved as a bus worker, is that still something you're considering? If so, expound a little more on your desire for the Bus ministry.
Well yes I have been called to the missions field to be in the bus ministry. My grandfather was a bus driver. Having been growing up in the bus ministry. I feel God calling me to the bus ministry through all of that.
So are you considering Bible college, going straight into missions, or still waiting on what the Lord wants you to do.
Yes, I am planning on going to Landmark Baptist College for a degree in pastoral missions. After that I feel that God has called me to the bus ministry and Lord willing I will know where that is to.
Exactly. I really like that you are willing to wait on the Lord for what he wants you to do. In many teenagers' lives, when it comes to the Lord's will, they want to know the end thing they're doing. They think that the Lord's will is a target they must hit. I would rather think of the lord's will as a GPS. God gives us the instructions of what he wants us to do right now and then he will give us what is going to come later. For me right now, the Lord's will is honoring my parents. The lord's will is to serve in church and develop character. If I fail to do these, how can I know the big things the Lord wants me to do?
That is right without the Lord You can do absolutely nothing. Without his help and guidance you can do nothing.
What challenges do you think Christian teenagers face the most, especially those called to the ministry.
The challenges I think most christians face when getting called to the mission field is will I be safe, will I be able to speak the language, will they listen. The main problem is that the devil will attack their faith and make them think that they can’t do what God has already set before them.
Tell me a little more about playing football for a Christian School. What is your favorite position? I love football and my favorite positions are WR and DB. Give me some of your biggest tips for playing these positions. I play flag football for a homeschool group.
Well technically it isn’t actual football it is flag football. But I played as a WR and a safety. These positions gave me the opportunity to see the field in a different way. I saw the players as they ran towards me, I saw the QB as he was going to pass the ball. This led to an occasional pick here and there. But in the position of a safety, read the QB, because he is like a book wide open. He will show you exactly where he is throwing the ball, By the way he moves, the way he throws the ball. Then when you are playing WR get open no matter if you are getting the ball or not. Putting your 110% in the game at all times shows you are a team player.
