What's Your Report?

 Numbers 13:31–33

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

We see here an interesting story. The children of Israel have taken 40 years getting to the promised land. it has been a LONG time coming for them. They are on the brink of reaching the land God had promise for them many years ago.

However a conflicting turn comes in this story.

Moses sent up spies to look over the land. Now pause here for a second. Maybe this just me but why are they sending spies when God told them to go possess it? God told them everything they needed to know about the land, and yet for some reason they stopped to look over the land.

But when the spies came back, their report was pessimistic. They told the children of Israel that they would never make it and that there were Giants in the land.

And because of their negative report, the Children of Israel had to wait another 40 years until that generation died off. Only Joshua and Caleb were able to see the promised land out of that entire generation because they report was that God would help us and to possess the land.

The promised land in the Bible stood for the successful Christian life while the wilderness stands for the lukewarm unproductive Christian life.

Some Christians will never get to have the Successful Christian life because they always look at the problems.

These spies had a lack of faith and a critical attitude towards the promised land.

People that are always talking about the problems and the giants in their life will never see the milk and honey that God talks about.

God has some wonderful blessings ahead for those that trust in him.

Sometimes, we get so pessimistic towards church that we end up discouraging and hurting the church.

"Oh, Living for Jesus is just so hard!"

" Brother, let me tell you about the trials of my week."

" Our churches in America are dying. We will never see revival"

When you are the Christian that always complains and discourages others, you affect your fellow brethren.

One Christian walks into church saying, “Nobody cares, it’s dead, we’ll never see revival.” Another walks in saying, “God is still on the throne, His Word is still powerful, His Spirit is still able.”

Which spirit do you carry to church?

Think about what Jesus would think. When he went through extreme suffering and torment to save your soul and give you everything you have and yet your whole week consisted of talking bad about church and the people.

We will have a successful Christian life when we trust in God and focus on the promise land.

What report do you have about church?

When you talk about your church with friends and family, is it a report of discouragement, complaints, and problems—or do you speak with excitement that God can still work?

What kind of attitude do you have lately towards the things of God?

Do you see your Bible as a burden, prayer as a chore, and serving as a waste—or do you think about what God has given you along the way?

It may just be that we have the same report that those evil spies did.

Today lets strive to have a message and a them in our hearts and mind of triumph and faith in God!
