Does Your Appearance Matter?

Here is an interesting question. Now obviously we know that it does matter but to what extent?

Now to some people, The outward does not matter to much. Some excuse this by giving 1 Samuel.

1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
“...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

In first Samuel 16, Samuel goes before the sons of Jesse looking for  the next king of Israel. But when he looks for the Lords anointed, he is strictly looking at the outward part of the men. He looked at their stature and their countenance. And this is where God talks to Samuel and teaches him an important lesson. That God looks deeper than the outside but also looks on the heart.
You see only man can see what is on the outside of someone but God in his power also sees what is on the inside.

Whatever is on our heart will direct your life, will, and even the outside.

Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

Whatever is on the inside will eventually come out on the outside.

So, does your appearance matter? Yes. Our appearance does matter for 2 reasons.
1. That is what others see.
If you walk up to an apple tree, you expect apples, not pears. People look at our “fruit” on the outside to see what we are. The world can’t see our heart—but they can see how we talk, dress, and live.
2. The outward is a representation of the heart.
Imagine biting into a shiny red apple. On the outside, it looks perfect. But as soon as you take a bite, you find the inside is rotten and full of worms. The truth is, the outside will eventually begin to show what’s on the inside—brown spots, softness, or a bad smell.
Our outward life works the same way. What’s hidden in the heart will eventually show up on the outside in our words, choices, and even appearance.
