Having a Dream.
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."
Have you ever seen a little kid talk about what they want to be when they grow up? Their eyes light up. They speak with excitement, boldness, and no fear of failure. Firefighter. Doctor. Preacher. Astronaut. They believe they can do it.
But somewhere along the way, that excitement fades. Today, we’re seeing more and more teenagers who don’t have a dream. No direction. No goal. No vision for their life.
And I believe that’s a problem—a spiritual one. Because when there’s no vision, there’s no motivation. When there’s no dream, there’s no drive to do anything great for God.
Today I want to talk about the importance of having a dream.
1. Have a dream.
First, get a dream. It doesn't have to be something you commit to for the rest of your life. But have something you can imagine yourself doing when your an adult. Don't be one of the teen guys that says I don't know when asked what their plans are for after high school. Its time some teen guys get out of their gaming chair and start thinking about a plan for their life.
Get a dream and make it yours. Think about it. Dream about it. But more importantly, have a plan of what you want to do with your life.
Having a dream is planning for a purpose.
Having a dream will keep the teen-guy from living in his parents basement until he is 35 grinding on his PS5.
Having a dream gets you excited, motivated and serious about your future.
2. Make the dream big.
Don't be afraid to make the dream big. Have an end goal that is something great.
Your life's purpose is not to live with your parents forever, stay single and play video games.
Plan for the future and envision yourself doing something awesome for God.
Don't settle for the small. Work towards a bigger goal.
3. Make the dream Godly
Lastly and most important, make the dream Godly.
Your dream will only be truly successful if its spent for God.
In Ecclesiastes 1 Solomon said that everything under the sun will be in vain.
Make your dream encircle doing something for God.
Imagine your dream is like planting a seed.
-
Have a Dream: First, you must plant the seed. Without planting, nothing will grow. This means you have to decide what you want to pursue—even if it’s just a small idea now.
-
Make the Dream Big: Next, water and care for that seed by dreaming big. Don’t settle for a tiny sprout. Picture a strong, tall tree. Your big dream challenges you to grow beyond what feels comfortable.
-
Make the Dream Godly: Finally, the seed needs good soil to take root. God’s Word and His purpose are that soil. If the seed falls on rocky ground or weeds, it won’t flourish. But in God’s soil, your dream will grow deep roots, bear fruit, and stand the test of time.
So, plant your dream, dream big, and root it in God’s will—and watch how He brings it to life for His glory!
Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV)
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance..."
