I love Old movies. Probably more than most. I love the suspenseful thriller movies from the 40s and 50s.
Today I'm giving 15 of my favorite Movies from this Golden Age of TV. These are all free from demonic themes and profanity.
1941-Seargent York 6.5/10
Sergeant York (1941) stars Gary Cooper as Alvin York, a Tennessee farmer turned WWI hero. After struggling with his faith and the draft, he bravely captures 132 German soldiers. The film also features Walter Brennan and Joan Leslie.
1941-The Face Behind the Mask 5/10
The Face Behind the Mask (1941) stars Peter Lorre as a kind immigrant whose face is disfigured in a fire. Turned bitter, he becomes a criminal but struggles with his conscience. Evelyn Keyes also stars.
1941-Meet John Doe 8.5/10
Meet John Doe (1941) stars Gary Cooper as a down-and-out man hired to pose as a fictional everyman in a newspaper stunt. As his message of hope spreads, he becomes a national symbol. Barbara Stanwyck co-stars as the reporter behind the scheme.
1942-Pied Piper 6/10
The Pied Piper (1942) stars Monty Woolley as an elderly Englishman who reluctantly helps a group of children escape Nazi-occupied France. Along the way, he discovers courage and compassion. Roddy McDowall and Anne Baxter co-star.
1945-All My Sons 5.5/10
All My Sons (1945) stars Edward G. Robinson and Burt Lancaster. Robinson plays a businessman whose wartime crime leads to tragedy when the truth destroys his family.
1945-And Then There Were None 9.5/10
And Then There Were None (1945) is a suspenseful mystery where ten strangers are invited to a remote island and mysteriously killed one by one. Barry Fitzgerald and Walter Huston lead the cast as the guests try to uncover who the killer is before it’s too late.
1947-Its a Wonderful Life 10/10
It’s a Wonderful Life (1947) stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who, feeling hopeless, is shown by an angel what life would be like if he’d never been born. The film is a heartwarming story about the impact one life can have. Donna Reed co-stars.
1947- The Killers 7/10
The Killers (1946) is a film noir starring Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner. It tells the story of two hitmen who come to a small town to kill a former boxer, unraveling a web of crime and betrayal. Edmond O’Brien co-stars.
1948-Good Sam 6/10
Good Sam (1948) stars Gary Cooper as a kindhearted man who can’t stop helping others, often to his own detriment. The film explores generosity and the challenges of always trying to do good. Ann Sheridan co-stars.
1948-Hollow Triumph 5.5/10
Hollow Triumph (1948) stars Paul Henreid as a con man who assumes a dead man’s identity but gets caught in a dangerous web of crime and deception. The film is a tense noir thriller about survival and identity. Eleanor Parker co-stars.
1950-Mister 880 6.5/10

1956-The Man who Knew too Much 9/10
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) stars James Stewart and Doris Day as a couple who accidentally uncover an assassination plot while on vacation. When their child is kidnapped to keep them silent, they race against time to stop the crime. It’s a thrilling suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
Why oh why do they mostly have to be black and white?? ;o) You are slowly winning me to your side. I've enjoyed a few of the last ones. This 90s girl is trying! :o)
