Why Calvinism doesn't match the Bible
Today a ever-increasing idea is that of Calvinism.
An idea that believes that God didn't die for everyone and that we are predestinated before the world.
I believe that this is absolutely horrible. It is unbiblical and goes against all God is.
Over the past year I have been interested on this subject.
And the more I read about it, the more I am disgusted with this idea that God didn't die for everyone.
But what does the Bible say about this topic??
1. Calvinism Teaches Limited Atonement
Calvinism claims that Jesus only died for the elect—a doctrine known as Limited Atonement. This means His death was not for all people, but only for those predestined to be saved.
What the Bible says:
John 3:16 – "For God so loved the world..."
1 John 2:2 – "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
Hebrews 2:9 – "...that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
Scripture makes it clear that Christ died for all. Limiting the atonement is wrong.
2. Calvinism Denies Free Will in Salvation
Calvinists teach that man is so dead in sin that he cannot respond to God unless God first regenerates him. This removes any choice or responsibility from the individual.
What the Bible says:
Joshua 24:15 – "Choose you this day whom ye will serve..."
Revelation 22:17 – "...whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
Romans 10:13 – "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
God clearly offers salvation to all and expects a response from everyone. Free will is not denied in Scripture—it is assumed.
3. Calvinism Misrepresents God's Character
If God chooses to save some and pass over others, then He is showing love for some and not love for others. Calvinism teaches that God is not willing to save everyone, even though He could.
What the Bible says:
2 Peter 3:9 – "The Lord... is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
1 Timothy 2:4 – "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
God's love is universal. Calvinism portrays a God who only loves a select few, which is not the God of the Bible.
