A Thought About Entertainment pt. 4

What not to watch in Movies The next part in our series is getting a little more specific in regard to what not to watch in our movies. These are things that I believe the Christian should not watch 1. Immorality About the easiest one to prove. We ought not watch things with vile, immoral, topics or scenes. Psalm 101:3   “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me Phillipians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Never be prey to the snare of watching the filth of immoral movies. 2. Profanity Quite a tricky topic to discuss but I  still believe we should protect our ears from vile words. Profanity is an ultimate denial of Jesus. Consider when Peter tried...

Questions, Quality, and Quantity! Today, I will be talking about a few different questions to ask yourself to determine whether a movie is right. These questions are tests to see if the movie is worth watching.  1. I don't want to disobey any Bible command. This question is as easy as it gets. We should know that if the bible says not to do something, we better not do it. If their is a Bible verse that commands us not to see or partake in something, then we should not do it. As a Christian, our desire should be to please God by following his word. If God's word says something is wrong, the excuse of " Well in my opinion" or " It doesn't affect me" go out the window. God's will and desires ought to be more important to us than pleasing our flesh. 2. I don't want to do anything that will develop an appetite that has no proper fulfillment. This decision is basic. Much of what we do is fed and developed. Our decisions in life help develop our appeti...

Why Have Standards in our Movies? DOES GOD REALLY CARE ABOUT WHAT I WATCH???? Good Afternoon! Hope your having a good Thursday. Today I will be talking about the need to have a standard in what we watch. This idea will serve as a foundation for what we learn about next.  The first movies and TVs were invented in the 1920s. It became a marvel of its time as people could see a completely new scene somewhere else. Now, nearly 100 years later, nearly 97% of Americans have a TV in their house. A poll done in 2023 revealed that the average American watches 5 hours of screen time a day.  Sadly, screens have become a HUGE part of our everyday life taking up nearly a third of our day that we are awake. So in response to my opening question, yes, what we watch matters to God. In the day in which we live in, screens take up a good bit of our day. Ranging from, texts, social media, Youtube, Google, games, apps, emails, work, movies, shows, etc.! What we watch matters as a Christian...

This mini-series will be going on for the next 2 or 3 weeks as we examine Biblical principles and practical examples of guidelines for our Entertainment!

Silas-Black Nehemiah-Blue Favorite Team and Why??? First Off, What is your favorite team and why? I am a Patriots fan because my first Superbowl I ever watched was the Patriots vs the Falcons . The reason why I picked them is because my favorite color is blue and the Patriots colors are blue. I'm a Eagles fan because my family has always been a eagles fan even before I was born!! Expectations for the Eagles and Patriots I really feel like the Eagles offense is going to be really good. We have Patullo, who knows the offense and Jalen Hurts. I do think the defense is going to take a step back. We lost a lot of players like CJGJ, Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Darius Slay. Overall, I think our team is pretty set to be contenders once again. So my expectations this year for the Pats is a 9-8 season. I do not think we are playoff ready yet but we did add some new weapons on offense and our O- line got a little boost. The real question is can our offense actually produce points and ge...

Guest post on Tuesday!!!

Image
In July of 2024, my dad had the opportunity to preach for a camp in Mississippi. The camp was really awesome and it has kickball, a pool and really good food. I had an awesome time. Anyway, at the camp I met Nehemiah. Over the course of camp we became friends and now since we live away, we text and call. We both love talking about football. Anything football, we enjoy. So I thought I would invite him to do a guest post on the blog where we will be talking about some football-related topics.  I will be releasing it on Tuesday. So make sure to give the post a read and enjoy a light-hearted take on football!!

Jalen Hurts or Patrick Mahomes???

Image
Now while it may not be disputed that Pat Mahomes is better than Hurts, I wanted to point out that Jalen Hurts has outperformed Mahomes in their Matchups. 2 out of their 4 being in the super bowl. Their record is 3-1 with Hurts leading. Today I will let you decide who is better when these 2 dynamic Qbs face off against each other. 2022 Super Bowl Jalen Hurts- 27/38 304 yds, 4 td, 70 rushing yds Patrick Mahomes- 21/27 182 yds, 3 td. 2024 Super Bowl Jalen Hurts 17/22 257 yds 2 td, 72 rushing yds, 1 int Patrick Mahomes 21/32 221 yds  3 td, 2 int I'm not saying Hurts is better or anything but it does show you who is better when it matters most!

What going on with me????

Image
Lately, My posts haven't been blog-like. So today I wanted to share what has been going on in my life! Sooo, Here is what I have been up to over the past 2 or 3 months. We have been going to a bunch of homeschool activities lately. They are pretty fun. Here, we are going for a hayride! Here, me and Micah stopped by and snapped a pic of a sign of an eagles player who grew up nearby! Go birds!! Our church has been doing a community outreach once a quarter. it went really well. ( Storytime!!) So me and some teen guys are knocking on doors to invite people to come to the event. However it was raining CATS  and DOGS!!! I was so cold and shivering and the papers I was handing out were soaked and falling apart. As I'm knocking on one door, the guy opens it and after i tell him what I'm doing he starts laughing and tells me I'm crazy. I walk away and see on the next street over an old sweet lady giving full yellow rainjackets to 2 of my friends! So as I'm shivering they wa...

Who is Winning the Election?

If you are wondering, I am not talking about politics. Lately, I have been reading in Matthew and I read the story about the rich young man that confronted Jesus.    Mat 19:18 ¶ He saith   unto him,   Which?   Jesus   said,   Thou shalt do   no   murder,   Thou shalt   not   commit adultery,   Thou shalt   not   steal,   Thou shalt   not   bear false witness,   Mat 19:19 Honour   thy   father   and   thy   mother:   and,   Thou shalt love   thy   neighbour   as   thyself.   Mat 19:20 ¶ The   young man   saith   unto him,   All   these things   have I kept   from   my   youth up:   what   lack   I yet?   Mat 19:21 ¶ Jesus   said   unto him,   If   thou wilt   be   perfect,   go   and   sell   that thou   hast, ...
